What is this?

I an trying to lower the voting age to sixteen. I have written to senators, made the website you are on now, and started spreading it on social media. You yourself can help the cause, write to your senators and tell people on social media.

Why?

Ever since I was in third grade I thought that the voting age should be lowered. Subsequently, I have refined, researched, and advanced my idea and at sixteen you should be able to vote. “For many years, all States have had at least one provision for trying certain youth of juvenile age as adults in criminal court” (https://www.ncjrs.gov/html/ojjdp/9912_2/juv5.html), and yet they can make no change on the laws enforced upon him. Also, there have been cases with very harsh punishment for people younger than 16. “The two 14-year-old offenders in these cases were convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole” (https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/11pdf/10-9646g2i8.pdf). Although, the crime they committed was undoubtedly horrible, they still had no way to effect the laws that gave them their life sentence. When one turns sixteen they even have to pay taxes, taxation without representation! The voting process needs to be changed, and now is the time for action.
